A great way to use all those scraps of cotton fabric you have been saving after making your quilts, is to make a quilt block with them.
Strip Star Paper Piecing Pattern is the best way to use all those strips of fabric leftovers after you finished making your last quilt.
When you love to make your own quilts, you will be saving even the smallest piece of fabric, and many times these pieces are strips of fabric, whether you save them in a different basket from the rest of scraps, today you can use them to make an 8 point start quilt block with them.
Strip Star Paper Piecing Pattern
To make the Strip Star PPP Quilt block, you will be working with a Paper Piecing Pattern, you can download it here and print it out as many times as you need it.
The Strip Star paper piecing pattern is a two templates pattern, you will need to follow the numbers on each template, you need to know how to work with the PPP, if your new to quilting, you can read how the Paper Piecing Pattern is made here.
How To Make The Strip Start Quilt Block
The Strip Start Quilt Block is designed to be made with four times the finished block of 8.5 x 8.5 inches. For this reason you will need to make four times this quilt block.
1. How To Make The Strip Start Quilt Block
Download and print out the pattern, follow the numbers and make 4 pieces of each template. Remove the paper from the finished piece and press, trim each piece.
Lay on your work table each pair of finished pieces, lay one piece over the other, pretty side together, pin and sew on, open each pair and press.
Trim each block of 8.5 x 8.5 inches.
2. How To Sew On The Strip Start
Lay on your work table the four blocks, arrange the four blocks to make the star, you will need to sew on two blocks at the time, the two blocks on the top, and the two blocks on the bottom, to make two halves of the star.
Sew on the two pair of blocks, open and press the seam.
Lay on your work table the two halves of the star, lay the bottom half on the top half, center the seams and pin the two halves together, sew on, open and press.
Trim the block if needed.
How To Sew The Strip Star To The Sampler Quilt.
As this quilt block is made to be part of the Sampler Quilt 2022, you will need to sew three borders on three sides of the start, each border should be 1 1/2 wide x the length of each side.
What To Do With The Strip Star Quilt Block
If you’re not making the Sampler Quilt 2022, you can make other items with this block like: pillows, tote bag, mini quilt.
If you make more than one block with the Strip Star you can bake a baby quilt, a lap quilt or a regular quilt size, but you will need to make as many blocks as needed for the size of the quilt.
