If you’re new here, you can see the first part of the tutorial to make a new quilt here, but if you have followed me for a while, you might have finished to do the applique of the first animals patterns I gave you on the previous post to make this quilt.
Today, I’ll be sharing the next steps to sew the two outer borders on the quilt and to make the quilting sandwich.

Easy New Quilt To Make – Part 2
List of Materials To Make The Easy New Quilt Part 2
2 strips of cotton 100 % fabric of 1.5 x 21.5 pulgadas
2 strips of cotton 100 % fabric of 1.5 x 18.5 pulgadas
2 strips of cotton 100 % fabric of 3 x 23 1/4 inches
2 strips of cotton 100 % fabric of 3 x 23 1/4 inches
1 pieces of thin batten fabric of
1 pieces of cotton 100 % fabric for the back of the quilt of
Sewing Equipment you need:
- Sewing machine
- a pair of scissors
- rotary cutter
- patchwork ruler
- cutting mat
- safety pins
- quilting needles
- quilting thread
- thimble

Video To Make the New Quilt
Tutorial Step by Step For The Easy New Quilt To Make
Cut and Sew On The Outer Borders Of The New Quilt
1 – This is a simple step to follow, all you need is to cut the strips of fabric you’ll use to sew on the borders on the quilt.
As a first step you need to sew on the two strips of fabric for the first border on both sides of the quilt, open each strip of fabric and press.
Sew on the strips of fabric on the top and bottom of the quilt, open the strips and press.
Sew On The Second Border On The Quilt
2 – On this step you’ll be sewing on the second outer border on the quilt, just follow the same steps you did to sew the first border, but this time with the wider strips of fabric. Press.
How To Make A Quilting Sandwich
3 – If you have been quilting for a while, you might know the steps to follow to make the quilting sandwich for a new quilt, but if you just started to work on a new quilt, this step is easy to work on.
Lay the piece of fabric for the back of the quilt on a table, on a bed or on the floor, right side facing down, lay over this fabric the batting fabric.
Lay the top on the batting fabric and pinch a few safety pins to hold the three layers of fabric together as you work on the quilting.
How To make The Quilting On A New Quilt
4 – Well, there are two ways to work on the quilting on a new quilt, by hand or with your sewing machine, if you have been following me for a while, you might know I love to work on the quilting by hand.
I’ll be working on the hand quilting on this new quilt too, it’s not a big quilt and it will be easy to work on it, but at home if you want to work on the free motion quilting with your sewing machine, it will be great too, I’m sure you’ll make a great quilt on it!
Next Steps To Work On A New Quilt
Well, as you can see you’ll be busy with the new patterns for the applique and you might want to start working on adding the outer borders on your new quilt this week.
I’ll be sharing a new video and a new tutorial to work on the final steps to finish this new quilt and I’ll get more patterns for you to work on the applique soon.
This is a small quilt and is easy to work on it, at the end you’ll have a new quilt finished with 12 cute animals on it, this quilt has the perfect size to be hung on a wall or to give it to a baby.
