Paper Piecing Pattern Spring Flowers (Free)

After the long and cold winter in Canada, I would love to see some flowers again in our backyard, but we still need to wait for a few more weeks, before we see some warm weather to help plants to grow back to bloom again.

Paper Piecing Pattern – Tulip

The Paper Piecing Pattern to make a block with a tulip, is made of two section, on the first section, you will need to follow the sequence of numbers to make the tulip.

On the section number two, the bottom section, you will be stitching two parts first to make the two leaves, but you will find just one paper template, you will need to make this part of the pattern twice, but you will need to place the fabrics on the paper pattern on top of the paper to make one leave, and then you will need to lay the fabrics on the back of the paper to make the second leaf.

One leaf should face to the right, and the second leaf should face to the left, then you will need to lay one piece on the paper template for this part of the block and stitch on the fabric piece for the steam, then stitch on the second piece with the leaf.

To finish this block, you will need to stitch on both sections, the section with the flower, to the section with the leaves, press and trim the block to 8.5 x 8.5 inches.

Paper Piecing Pattern – Flower Pot with A Flower

To make this block, you will be working with three sections, the upper section to make the flower, the middle section to make the two leaves, and the bottom section to make the flower pot.

To make the section with the flower, you will find one paper template to make the flower, you need to make this part 4 times, to sew them later to make the flower.

If you prefer to cut the fabric to make the flower, instead of using the paper template, you will need to cut your fabric this way:

  • 4 pieces of 2 x 2 inches
  • 4 pieces of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches

Fold the 4 small pieces of fabric diagonally and press, to mark the diagonal line, or mark this line with a pencil for fabrics, with the help of a ruler.

Lay one small piece over one big piece of fabric, in one corner, pretty sides together, stitch on by hand or with your sewing machine, and trim the seam to 1/4 inch, open the small piece and press.

Stitch on the four pieces to make the flower, lay this piece on the paper table, and follow the numbers to make this piece.

You need to make the middle section the same way as it’s description above to make the section with the leaves.

To make the bottom section, you will need to follow the numbers.

When you finish making the three sections, you will need to stitch on one section to the other to make this block, at the end you will need to stitch on one piece of fabric of 9 x 1 1/2 inches, on the top.
