Step by Step Tutorial to Make the Christmas Gnome Pillowcase

1. Download and print the Christmas Gnome template.

On one copy of the template, cut the four sections with a pair of scissors for paper, then with a help of a small ruler fold and mark with your fingers each line on each template.

Follow the numbers and the color to make each section of the template.

2. Trim the seams on each section of the template.

Once you finish sewing the four sections, with the help of a patchwork ruler and the rotary cutter, trim the seams on each section.

3. Sew on the four Paper Piecing sections to make the top

Once you finish making the top, turn it right side down and with your fingers tear out the paper template. Press and trim with the rotary cutter.

4. Sew on the four borders on the top.

Now you can sew on the two borders first, one on each side of the top, then sew on one border on the top and one border on the bottom of the top

It’s time to make the sandwich to make the quilting, lay on your work table the fabric for this step, right side down, lay over it the thin batting fabric and lay over it the top of the mini quilt (the Nordic gnome top)

Pinch a few safety pins and you can work on making the quilting, I did it by hand but if you want to make it with your sewing machine, it will look great too.

When you finish the quilting, don’t forget to make a running stitch all round on the edge of the top of the mini quilt.

6. Make the Pillowcase.

Take the two pieces of fabric to make the back of the pillow case, on one long sides, make a double fold of 1/4″ and sew on with your sewing machine. Press.

Lay on your work table the two pieces of fabric to make the back of the pillowcase, lay over them the mini quilt centered, pinch a few pins and with the help of your patchwork ruler and the rotary cutter, trim the edges of the back of the pillowcase to 1/3 or 1″ wide.

Fold the each twice over the edge of the mini quilt and pinch a few pins, sew on the four sides.
